Reporting to the Video/Lighting Supervisor, the Video Technician works with the warehouse team, assisting with the preparation and dispatch of hire equipment ensuring prompt preparation of equipment hire packages prior to dispatch and timely checking-in and storage of returning equipment. The role requires flexible working practices, in a developing environment and may be required to assist, or cover for, other roles within the operation for which full training/support will be given.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the 360 nature of the business and work in collaboration with all other disciplines
- Prepare, assemble and de-prep hire equipment
- Inspect, clean and test equipment ensuring functionality and ready for use
- Identify and resolve technical problems
- Manage equipment returns process and quality control tests
- Act as a video expert and provide technical assistance for our internal and external customers
- Ensure equipment is delivered within timelines and with appropriate packaging and documentation. Immediately report to relevant managers any anomalies with documentation, lost, stolen or damaged equipment.
- Ensure Hire Preparation Area is maintained in a clean, organised and tidy condition adhering to Health and Safety policies at all times.
- Identify and develop improvements to performance and process through continuous improvement and working with managers.
- Assist the loading and tipping of courier/transport vehicles.
- Ensure that Solotech's standards are respected and met
- Any other reasonable ad-hoc requests as required by your manager.
Requirements
Essential Level of Education
- Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
Desirable Level of Education
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
Work Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Experience in a similar industry related role
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the preparation and operation of audio, video or lighting equipment
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly
- Competent with the use of computers and ability to use databases
- Ability to use initiative work unsupervised, whilst recognising when to ask questions
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure – the role is pivotal to the smooth running of the warehouse
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
Essential Requirements
- Positive and efficient work ethic
- Flexible schedule with night and weekend availability/ability to work overtime when required
- Full Clean Driving Licence
- Right to work and remain in the UK
- Ability to travel throughout the UK including overnight stays from time to time
