Operatives are to assist in the delivery of on-site project works to a safe, compliant and to a high standard of workmanship.

You will play a vital role in supporting the operational activities necessary for the delivery of utility services to our customers.

The operative will be responsible to the Lead Operative

  • To work safely at all times and ensure the safety of all those working around them.
  • To comply with the requirements of the company policies, procedures and relevant risk assessments and method statements.
  • To report all accidents, incidents and near misses.
  • To attend Stand Downs, Team Briefs and Toolbox Talks.
  • Follow instructions from the Lead Operative or site supervisor / site manager to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment as required.
  • To attend training and update courses as required.
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and free from hazards.
  • To assist with accurately recording details of work undertaken.
  • Operate plant and machinery (where trained and certified).
  • To represent the company in a professional manner at all times to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with other team members, including engineers and supervisors, to coordinate workflow and achieve operational objectives.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools required for drainage work.
  • Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • To maintain the equipment in a serviceable condition at all times

Qualifications

About you

  • Previous experience in drainage or civils construction.
  • CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices on construction sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual labour.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites (working away)and work flexible hours.
  • Strong understanding of drainage systems.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • CPCS or NPORS certification for plant operation (e. g., excavator, dumper).
  • Confined space training.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Good IT skills including ability to use mobile devices such as Mobile Phones & PDA’s
