About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Site Manager to join our Building division and lead the successful delivery of construction projects from initial planning through to final completion.
Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager , you will oversee all on-site activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
This is a fully site-based role, requiring you to be present on site throughout the duration of the project. You will have direct responsibility for a
Site Manager , providing leadership and support to ensure the successful delivery of the works.
The projects consist of modernisation and refurbishment works within prison environments . These are construction projects within secure facilities and are not undertaken whilst prisons are occupied by inmates .
This is a leadership position requiring the ability to manage site teams, foster strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of health and safety, quality, and operational performance.
You will collaborate closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal departments to deliver exceptional project outcomes while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of construction sites, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Report directly to the Contracts Manager, providing regular updates on project progress and performance.
- Lead and manage the Site Manager and wider site team to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies relating to Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Environmental Management, Sustainability, and the Business Management System.
- Identify potential project risks and challenges, implementing proactive solutions to maintain programme and performance objectives.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure all compliance records are kept up to date.
- Lead, mentor, and support site teams through effective supervision, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
- Promote continuous improvement by driving best practices across all aspects of project delivery.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced construction professional with a strong technical background and a proven ability to deliver complex projects within a main contractor environment.
You will possess excellent leadership skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager working for a main contractor (Tier 1 ideally).
- Strong technical understanding of construction methods, processes, and project delivery.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant construction discipline.
- Valid SMSTS certification and CSCS Card.
- Sound commercial and financial knowledge, including familiarity with NEC and JCT forms of contract.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing site teams.
Desirable
- Previous experience delivering refurbishment or modernisation projects within secure facilities or prison environments.
