We are working with an established and ambitious construction contractor based in Cheshire, delivering projects across London through their growing Special Works division. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The successful candidate will be based at the company's North West head office three days per week, with the remaining two days spent overseeing projects across London, playing a key role in the commercial management and successful delivery of schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who is looking to play a key role in the successful delivery of projects while contributing to the ongoing growth of a forward-thinking business.

Working closely with the Senior Commercial Manager and wider project teams, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring financial performance is maximised and commercial risks are effectively managed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the commercial delivery of construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Preparing, reviewing and agreeing subcontractor packages and procurement schedules.
  • Assessing and processing subcontractor applications and payments.
  • Preparing and submitting client valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Managing variations, change control and compensation events.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and financial performance.
  • Producing accurate cost reports and forecasts for senior management.
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Leading negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensuring contractual obligations are met and project records are maintained.
  • Supporting project teams with commercial advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.

Education, skills and experience:

  • Degree, HNC or HND qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Experience managing projects across a range of construction sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial and analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in cost reporting, forecasting and final account management.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
