The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a successful and expanding business operating within the water sector. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects, overseeing financial performance, contractual matters, and project profitability from pre‑construction through to final account. This role is ideal for an experienced commercial professional looking to play a key role within a growing regional operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the commercial management of construction projects from procurement through to final account
- Preparing and managing interim valuations, final accounts, payment applications, and cost reconciliations
- Producing monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost/value reconciliations
- Managing subcontractor and supplier procurement, agreements, payments, and final accounts
- Identifying, pricing, and managing variations, claims, delays, and contractual changes
- Reviewing contract obligations and ensuring compliance across all project stakeholders
- Measuring and valuing works in accordance with industry standard methods of measurement
- Recovering project revenues through accurate valuation, certification, and commercial administration
- Maintaining comprehensive commercial records, correspondence registers, and procurement schedules
- Liaising with clients, project teams, and internal departments to support commercial and contractual objectives
- Building and maintaining strong client, subcontractor, and supplier relationships
- Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior commercial team members
- Providing commercial guidance to operational teams to maximise project performance and profitability
- Attending site and client meetings to provide commercial input and support project delivery
- Maintaining robust project records to substantiate costs, variations, delays, and change events
Requirements
- A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or similar from a UK University
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Must have experience in supporting civil infrastructure projects
- Strong commercial focus
- Experience in NEC Contracts in the UK
- Full Clean UK Driving License
- Experience working on water projects (wastewater/clean water)
