We are currently recruiting for a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a major main contractor on a significant MoD construction project in the East Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to take on a senior commercial position within a major project environment, with the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement combining site-based and home working.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commercial management of M&E subcontract packages
  • Procurement and management of M&E subcontractors and suppliers
  • Preparing, reviewing and agreeing valuations, applications and payments
  • Managing variations, change control and commercial risk
  • Cost reporting and forecasting
  • Supporting the development and management of project budgets
  • Reviewing subcontract accounts and monitoring commercial performance
  • Negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Managing the preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost savings
  • Providing commercial advice and support to the wider project team
  • Ensuring contractual and commercial processes are followed throughout the project

About You

We are looking for an experienced Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in mechanical and electrical building services, ideally gained within a main contracting environment. You will ideally have:

  • Strong experience managing M&E commercial packages
  • Previous experience working on major construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement and commercial management
  • Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • A good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a wider project team
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
  • Appropriate CSCS certification
  • Experience working on large-scale, complex or public-sector projects would be advantageous.

The Project

The role will be based on a major MoD construction project in the East Midlands, offering the opportunity to work on a significant project within a highly controlled and commercially demanding environment. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing a combination of working from home and attending site as required. Due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate will be required to undergo national security vetting and a full UK security check.
