A leading UK construction and building services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior MEP Planner to support a portfolio of major construction projects across London. This is a senior planning position working across both pre-construction and project delivery, providing specialist MEP planning expertise and ensuring complex building services programmes are properly coordinated with design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing robust delivery strategies, identifying programme risks and providing senior-level planning assurance across major projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior MEP planning expertise across pre-construction and delivery stages.
  • Develop, coordinate and integrate MEP work sequences with wider construction programmes.
  • Ensure MEP activities are aligned with design, procurement, manufacture, installation and commissioning.
  • Identify programme risks and develop effective mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Review and challenge specialist subcontractor programmes.
  • Prepare detailed tender, design, procurement and construction programmes.
  • Provide planning input into bid strategies and delivery methodologies.
  • Analyse critical paths and cause-and-effect relationships across projects.
  • Monitor progress against baseline programmes and provide regular updates.
  • Produce detailed progress reports and programme forecasts for senior management.
  • Lead programme and planning workshops with project teams, clients and the supply chain.
  • Identify opportunities to improve buildability, programme performance, safety, quality and value.
  • Support commissioning and handover planning.
  • Provide planning guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.
  • Work closely with project teams, clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain programme certainty.

About You

We're looking for an experienced MEP Planner with a strong technical understanding of building services installation and the interfaces between MEP, construction and design. You should have:

  • Proven experience as an MEP Planner / Senior MEP Planner within a Tier 1 main contractor environment.
  • Experience working on major and complex construction projects, ideally within London.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP installation sequences and construction methodologies.
  • Experience across commercial or other major construction sectors.
  • Strong understanding of programme risk, forecasting and mitigation.
  • Experience working across both pre-construction and delivery.
  • Experience with two-stage and single-stage tenders.
  • Knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Strong proficiency with Asta Powerproject and Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to confidently challenge programmes and provide practical solutions.
  • Relevant construction, engineering or planning qualification would be advantageous.
  • Professional membership or accreditation such as CIOB would be desirable.
