Role Requirements & Responsibilities
The successful candidate must have proven experience managing large-scale projects, preferably within highways, roadside technology, or a comparable infrastructure environment. Experience working on live networks and in safety-critical settings is essential. The role will involve the delivery and coordination of fault response, cyclic maintenance, and follow-on works, including but not limited to cable replacements, loop cutting, and asset upgrades. You will be responsible for supervising subcontractors, commissioning and testing roadside technology equipment, and ensuring all works meet contractual, technical, and safety requirements.
- Assisting with the planning and definition of technical requirements, such as cable specifications, routing, containment, and equipment interfaces
- Reviewing, approving, and working to RAMS, ensuring site activities are carried out safely and in compliance with highways and electrical standards
- Supervising site works, coordinating traffic management, and ensuring minimal disruption to the live highway environment
- Carrying out or overseeing cable termination, equipment recommissioning, testing, and fault rectification
- Ensuring all installations are fully tested, commissioned, and certified in line with relevant standards
- Working closely with the Assistant Project Manager to support programme delivery, reporting progress, risks, and changes
- Providing technical oversight, as-built documentation, test results, and handover information following installation or maintenance activities
Person Specification
- Demonstrable experience working with roadside technology systems, such as CCTV, VMS, ANPR, MIDAS, loops, and associated communications infrastructure
- HERS registration (or strong working knowledge of HERS requirements and processes)
- Background in electrical and/or electronic engineering, ideally within highways or infrastructure environments
- Experience working safely on or adjacent to live highways, with a strong understanding of risk management
- DBS check required due to the nature of the works
