Overview:
My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Passive Fire Protection Surveyor to join our technical team. This role focuses on surveying and assessing passive fire protection (PFP) systems - with particular emphasis on internal compartmentation and firestopping installations - across a wide range of occupied and unoccupied buildings.
Working closely with the Technical Manager, you will play a key role in identifying compliance issues, assigning suitable remedial solutions, and producing structured, technically robust reports that support regulatory alignment and project planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed surveys of compartmentation and firestopping installations.
- Identify and record breaches, assess legacy and new-build conditions, and assign compliant remedial solutions.
- Prepare technically defensible reports with photographic evidence and prioritised actions.
- Support the Technical Manager in reviewing documentation, assigning technical details, and liaising with manufacturers to verify compatibility of solutions.
- Interpret fire risk assessment (FRA) outputs and contribute to strategy and remediation planning.
- Use digital survey platforms (e.g., OneTrace, Bolster, Auditform) to record and report findings.
- Contribute to compliance tracking, technical knowledge development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Passive Fire Protection or equivalent construction/fire safety qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in PFP system inspection and compartmentation surveying.
- Proven knowledge of firestopping techniques and systems: batt & mastic, wraps, collars, cavity barriers, compound pours.
- Strong understanding of installation standards and relevant regulations (Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 8644).
- Experience with technical reporting tools and digital platforms.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidance.
- Valid SMSTS and First Aid at Work (or willingness to obtain).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with fire strategy documentation and FRA interpretation.
- IPAF and PASMA certification.
- Experience feeding survey data into pricing, scheduling, and compliance workflows.
