Overview
PSR Solutions are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager role in Central London. This will be working on mechanical and electrical projects within a rail environment.
Responsibilities
- Technical & Design Leadership: Lead the design function across all project phases—from concept to commissioning—while ensuring deliverables meet cost, time, and quality metrics.
- Compliance & Assurance: Maintain alignment with design management systems, ensuring design assurance, constructability, and HSE best practices are embedded throughout the engineering process.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Interface with internal teams, clients, and third parties to ensure design intent, regulatory compliance, and system integration are achieved seamlessly.
- Project Integration: Provide accurate design estimates, manage design changes, and control sector-specific engineering resources to ensure smooth project execution.
- Documentation & Governance: Maintain engineering documentation such as RFIs, TQs, MARs, design risk registers, and perform CAT 1/2 design checks.
- Mentorship & Team Culture: Support the development of junior engineers and promote a collaborative, solution-driven engineering environment.
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Multidisciplinary engineering leadership across the project lifecycle.
- Deep knowledge of MEPHFC systems and design assurance.
- Skilled in planning, budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder management.
- Tools: 2D/3D CAD, BIM Level 2, CDM 2015, MS Office suite.
- Understanding of procurement, installation, and commissioning.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Accredited Engineering Degree & Chartered Engineer (CEng).
- Membership with professional institutions (e.g., IET, IMechE, CIBSE).
- HSE qualifications: SMSTS/IOSH, CSCS (AQP/PQP), Full UK Driving Licence.
Career Background
You should ideally have progressed through roles such as Design Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Project/Commissioning Manager, with demonstrable experience delivering turnkey projects, engaging directly with clients, and managing design-to-handover workflows.
