PSR Solutions are working with a specialist Civils contractor in South West England who are looking to hire a Project Director with Construction and Infrastructure experience.
We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of complex, high-value construction and infrastructure projects. This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for safety, quality, programme, commercial performance, and team leadership across multidisciplinary delivery environments. You will play a critical role in shaping delivery strategy, driving operational excellence, and building strong client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring excellence across safety, quality, programme, commercial performance, and people leadership.
- Direct and inspire multidisciplinary teams including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Construction Managers, driving high performance and consistency.
- Provide engineering leadership, ensuring buildability, temporary works, construction methodologies, and value engineering are robust and well-communicated.
- Establish and maintain effective planning, monitoring, and reporting systems to enable proactive decision-making and delivery control.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and successful outcomes.
- Collaborate with pre-construction teams, contributing to tenders through technical input, methodology development, and resource planning.
- Represent the organisation in client presentations and interviews, acting as a senior ambassador for delivery capability and culture.
- Lead and support commercial functions, ensuring strong financial management, contract administration, and maximisation of project outcomes.
- Ensure robust governance, documentation, and compliance, supporting risk management and commercial success.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, supporting succession planning and long-term capability building.
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across projects and the wider business.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience delivering complex, high-value construction or infrastructure projects in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven track record leading large, multidisciplinary teams in demanding project environments.
- Strong technical understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, temporary works, and safety regulations.
- Excellent commercial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and cost control, with the ability to influence financial performance.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging at executive level.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships and resolve complex challenges under pressure.
- Highly organised, analytical, and detail-focused, with a commitment to right-first-time delivery.
- Strong leadership capability with experience in coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Ability to foster collaborative, high-performing team cultures with open communication and accountability.
- Confident in maintaining and enforcing high safety and compliance standards.
- Proficient in MS Office and reporting tools, with the ability to produce clear, high-quality insights.
- Relevant professional membership desirable; CSCS card required.
