I'm working with a leading civils contractor who are looking for an experienced and driven Site Agent to join their delivery team, supporting the successful execution of projects across our Civils and Infrastructure Sector. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the coordination and management of all site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with programme, budget, and quality requirements.
The Site Agent will play a key role in leading site activities, managing teams, and maintaining strong relationships with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, commercial teams, HSEQ department, the client and design stakeholders. From project handover through to completion, the Site Agent will ensure effective collaboration across all parties, driving performance while promoting company values, behaviours, and culture throughout project delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience (Degree preferred)
- SMSTS
- CSCS Card (Manager)
- Full clean driving licence
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of civil engineering and construction methods
- Knowledge of contract conditions, specifications, and commercial processes
- Good understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation
- Proven experience in site management on infrastructure projects (ideally highways, earthworks, S278 or similar).
- Experience working with developers, local authorities, or National Highways advantageous
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver under pressure
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review and implement RAMS prior to works commencing
- Inputs into site safety, ensuring safe systems of work are communicated and followed
- Ensure incidents, near misses, and hazards are reported, recorded, and investigated
- Enforce and maintain HSE compliance, including production and management of the HSE Plan
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures in line with company systems
- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
- Ensure production and implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Ensure site records and quality inspections are produced in line with the Quality Plan and quality requirements
- Monitor site activities to ensure required quality standards are achieved
- Impose and implement quality control to minimise defects and ensure right-first-time delivery
- Assume overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project
- Manage and control site labour, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Work collaboratively with design teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery
- Mentor and support junior engineers and site staff
- Inputs into and attendance at site meetings, including client and progress reviews
- Manage site activities in line with programme and contractual requirements
- Produce, monitor, and update short-term lookaheads
- Ensure adequate resources (labour, plant, materials) are available to meet programme requirements
- Ensure the commercial performance of the contract is maximised
- Understand and manage contract conditions, specifications, drawings etc
- Identify and report variations, delays, and risks
- Take off and ordering of materials, including reconciliation of bulk materials
- Manage procurement, appointment, and performance of subcontractors and suppliers
- Maintain accurate site records to support commercial reporting and project control
- Implement project documentation including Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Waste Management Plans
