We have a specialist fire protection business, providing accredited passive fire protection, active fire systems, and fire suppression services. The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Managing Director to lead the business forward, taking full responsibility for both its commercial success and operational performance. You will shape the future direction of the business by securing new opportunities, developing high-performing teams, strengthening client relationships, and delivering sustainable growth. With a clear objective of doubling revenue and expanding the workforce over the next three years, this role offers genuine autonomy and the opportunity to make a significant impact. Reporting directly to the Group Director, you will operate with the freedom to lead the business while contributing to the wider strategic objectives of the Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the division's profit and loss, ensuring strong financial performance and sustainable profitability.
- Develop and implement a business development strategy to secure new framework agreements and long-term contracts with housing associations, facilities management providers, local authorities, NHS estates, and other key clients.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing management and engineering team capable of supporting continued business growth.
- Maintain and enhance compliance standards, ensuring the business continues to meet and exceed BAFE, IFC, and industry accreditation requirements.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings, including passive fire remediation, fire stopping, maintenance contracts, and other emerging market opportunities.
- Work closely with the Group Director to contribute to strategic planning, business improvement initiatives, and future acquisitions or expansion opportunities.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record within the fire protection sector who combines commercial awareness with operational expertise.
You will ideally have:
- At least eight years' experience within the fire protection industry, covering passive fire protection, active fire systems, suppression, or fire compliance.
- Previous responsibility for, or significant involvement in, managing a business unit's profit and loss.
- Demonstrable success in growing revenue, securing new contracts and frameworks, and expanding operational teams.
- A strong understanding of BAFE, IFC, BS 9999, and the wider regulatory and compliance environment.
- Established relationships within facilities management, housing associations, public sector procurement, or similar sectors.
- The ability to inspire teams, build lasting client relationships, and successfully deliver projects while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
