Our client is one of the UK's leading infrastructure specialists and Main Contractors, delivering projects and frameworks across the UK. They have an immediate need for a freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor on a minimum 12 month contract. As a key member of the team reporting into the Commercial Manager, you will liaise with the client commercial team and representatives, subcontractors and other third parties on commercial issues including leading on cost and contract management, subcontract procurement and management, agreement of variations, producing accurate and timely forecasts and reports.
As an ideal candidate, you will be from a civil engineering background with water industry experience.
Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor (hybrid working) roles and responsibilities:- Prepare, monitor, and report cost plans, forecasts, CVRs, cash flow, and final account settlements.
- Manage valuation submissions, applications for payment, and proactively monitor cash flow.
- Oversee subcontract procurement processes - from tendering to contract negotiation and administration.
- Identify, value, and negotiate contract changes and variations.
- Administer notices, claims, and compensation events in line with NEC principles.
- Act as liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth interface and timely communication.
- Attend valuation and progress meetings; deliver accurate cost reporting to project and senior management.
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS team members; promote professional growth.
- HND or degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in the construction industry, working on civil infrastructure and water projects.
- Proven experience administering NEC forms of contract.
- Previous experience of subcontractor procurement and management.
- Demonstrable experience of monthly forecasting and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Minimum 12 month contract on a hybrid basis.
