Are you an experienced Architectural Technician looking to join one of the UK's leading main contractors? Our client is a nationally recognised Tier One contractor with an exceptional reputation for delivering prestigious projects across the commercial, healthcare, education, residential and mixed-use sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Architectural Technician to join their established Preconstruction team based in Birmingham.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with 3-4 years' experience who is looking to play a pivotal role in the early stages of major construction projects, working closely with the Preconstruction, Design and Estimating teams to develop innovative, practical and buildable design solutions.

The Role

As an Architectural Technician within the Preconstruction team, you will be responsible for providing technical design support throughout the tender and bid process. You'll produce detailed technical drawings, review project documentation and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs are compliant, commercially viable and deliverable. This role offers the opportunity to work on landmark projects from concept through to pre-construction, giving you real influence over project outcomes before work begins on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and coordinate technical drawings and design information for tender submissions.
  • Support the Preconstruction and Bid teams on major project opportunities.
  • Review employer's requirements, planning information and technical specifications.
  • Develop practical, compliant and buildable design solutions.
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, clients and internal project teams.
  • Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations and relevant standards.
  • Assist with design coordination through the preconstruction phase.
  • Attend design meetings and provide technical input throughout the bid process.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • 3-4 years' experience as an Architectural Technician.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction detailing.
  • Experience producing technical drawing packages using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent technical, organisational and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Previous experience within a main contractor or architectural practice is advantageous.
