Role responsibilities
- Trusted communications partner for a specific FCA area, building relationships with stakeholders and providing strategic guidance.
- Combine strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery, building subject‑matter expertise.
- Manage media relations with journalists, responding to reactive press queries and seeking proactive opportunities across media, social media, stakeholder partnerships, and other channels.
- Prepare communication plans and content to support key announcements.
- Identify key external stakeholders and engage relevant media, trade bodies and consumer groups to create advocacy and reach target audiences.
- Share coverage updates, evaluate priority announcements, and deliver high‑quality outcomes while strengthening communications skills.
- Take part in the regular out‑of‑hours media rota.
Skills required
- Relevant recent experience dealing with media, including responding to reactive press queries.
- Experience managing external communication projects: setting objectives, developing messaging and producing engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; balance proactive and reactive work.
- Strong knowledge of traditional and social media.
