Division: Supervision, Policy and Competition

Department: Retail Banking.

Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £53,800 to £71,600 and London £59,200 to £78,800 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience).

Grade: Senior Associate, Regulatory.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver key policy projects using first‑rate analysis and project management skills.
  • Develop effective working relationships across the FCA and represent the FCA externally with government departments like HM Treasury, industry participants, trade bodies and other regulators.
  • Write and present policy proposals, supported by data and analysis, to help decision makers in the FCA make decisions.
  • Deliver public consultations on changes to FCA rules or guidance.
  • Provide technical and policy advice on the application of the existing rules and guidance.
  • Research and analyse industry developments (e.g. new products and business models) and advise on their regulatory treatment.
  • Provide advice and briefing about policy issues to FCA senior management and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Demonstrable experience of policymaking and solving complex problems by analysing information or issues, methodically interpreting data and reaching robust conclusions; prior experience of delivery and project management skills.
  • Essential: Ability to identify and manage key stakeholders, building rapport and constructive relationships, and demonstrating political awareness; highly developed written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity; well‑developed organisational skills, delivering multiple tasks with tight deadlines; ability to contribute effectively, taking a collaborative and responsive approach, using well‑reasoned arguments and willing to challenge where appropriate.
