About the PSR and team

The PSR is an independent economic regulator focused on ensuring payment systems work well for everyone. The Payment Services Market Intervention Department (PSMI) you are applying to join will ultimately move into the FCA when new legislation takes effect. Candidates should be aware that there may be changes to their responsibilities as consolidation into the FCA progresses.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality administrative support to the PSMI team, ensuring work is well organised, efficiently coordinated and delivered at pace.
  • Support the smooth running of team operations by managing core processes, including recruitment activity and joiner, mover and leaver administration.
  • Coordinate meetings end-to-end, including scheduling, preparing materials and capturing accurate minutes and actions.
  • Manage complex diaries and support managers with day-to-day coordination, ensuring priorities are effectively planned and delivered.
  • Act as a central contact point through management of the team mailbox, using judgement to prioritise, respond or escalate queries.
  • Maintain effective records management and compliance processes, including supporting inductions and carrying out required checks.
  • Build strong working relationships and collaborate with colleagues, PAs and administrators across the PSR and FCA to support effective team delivery.

Skills required

Minimum:

  • Proven experience providing high-quality administrative support to teams or senior individuals, including coordinating activities and managing stakeholder interactions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional correspondence and respond effectively to enquiries.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote), with the ability to use them effectively in a professional environment.

Essential:

  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, using sound judgement to prioritise, make decisions and escalate where appropriate.
  • Experience supporting team operations, including coordinating meetings, managing diaries and inboxes and supporting onboarding or recruitment activity.
  • Good attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy when handling documentation, records and administrative processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, contributing to collaborative team delivery.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, while adhering to established processes and standards.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing ways of working.
