The FCA regulates financial services firms in the UK to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective.

The SPC oversees firms and individuals through supervision, creates and reviews rules through policy, and identifies and remedies ineffective competition.

Within the Specialist Directorate, the Technology, Resilience and Cyber (TRC) department works with firms to strengthen resilience against cyber threats and operational disruptions, protecting consumers, safeguarding markets and building trust in finance technology.

  • Role Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality support to managers and departmental teams, ensuring smooth operations and building an effective network with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare agendas, coordinate briefings, manage meeting documents and actions, and oversee inbox management by monitoring emails and following up on required actions.
  • Maintain and update records in FCA systems to ensure regulatory compliance and data accuracy, developing solid knowledge of various FCA systems.
  • Contribute to busy, high‑profile teams, gaining insight into current thinking on cyber, technology and operational resilience.
  • Adapt to changing priorities in a forward‑thinking, team‑oriented way, managing competing priorities and deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Provide comprehensive support for internal and external meetings and events, ensuring effective coordination and accurate record of key issues.
  • Prepare documents, provide guidance to colleagues and offer flexible support across the team, including covering responsibilities for the Ho D’s PA and other PBS when required.

Skills and Experience Required – Minimum

  • Demonstrated experience in a role requiring clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.
  • Previous experience working in a high‑pressure environment with effective organisational, prioritisation and time‑management skills, delivering high‑quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering high‑quality administrative support, including mailbox management.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining flexibility to manage own tasks and take initiative.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive staff data with utmost discretion, ensuring confidentiality is upheld.
  • Prior experience requiring high accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring precision in all tasks.
  • Interest and understanding of FCA work, its operations and the wider financial services sector.
