Department: Market Analysis & Policy

Salary: £60,700‑£80,000 (Edinburgh, Leeds) or £66,600‑£85,000 (London). Salary offered will be based on skills and experience.

Grade: Lead Associate – Regulatory

Responsibilities

  • Lead scoping and planning of multi‑firm project work addressing market and sector issues.
  • Collaborate with FCA colleagues to deliver projects.
  • Lead firm interactions and visits, coordinating delivery of these activities.
  • Analyse information received from firms to identify issues and support further work, engagement and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of firm and stakeholder interactions, and document clear conclusions.
  • Provide internal and external reporting and feedback to FCA management, firms and stakeholders following multi‑firm work.
  • Help devise and implement mitigation strategies and actions for multi‑firm projects using regulatory tools.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and deliver communications regarding project work.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable understanding of the UK insurance sector and regulatory framework gained through relevant work in industry, regulatory or consultancy setting.
  • Experience leading assignments or project work, analysing information from multiple sources, making decisions based on that analysis and delivering high‑quality outputs.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all seniority levels.
  • Effective collaborator with capacity to lead pieces of project work, integrate quickly into the department and work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Adept summarising information, drawing key points and communicating them clearly orally and in writing, including technical matters.
  • Pragmatic and risk‑based decision maker, prioritising appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines and motivate self and others.
  • Skilled in clear communication, including presentations, to influence views while maintaining positive relationships within the FCA and with external partners.
  • Solid understanding of business models and conduct harms in general insurance sector.
  • High self‑awareness, willing to give and receive feedback, learn and develop, adopt flexible pragmatic approach.
