The Risk and Compliance Oversight (R&CO) Division is responsible for overseeing risk governance, compliance, data protection and complaints within the FCA. The role provides a great seat from which to learn about a significant part of the FCA’s work, and how the wider FCA works, while being part of a friendly, welcoming, empowered and team-spirited Division.

You will work alongside the Director PA’s to manage the flow of information between the Directors, the Division and our internal and external stakeholders. You will help ensure that the Directors office operates efficiently and effectively and that both Directors receive appropriate briefings and other input where needed.

Role responsibilities
  • Ensuring R&CO Director’s office runs efficiently, working closely with both Director PA’s, providing support and direction and ensuring operational tasks are delivered.
  • Act as operational contact point for the R&CO Division, for example co-ordinating input to business planning, resource and budget discussions and monitoring risk and control assessments and internal audit actions.
  • Supporting Directors and R&CO senior leadership team by managing their collective agenda and ensuring collaboration, supporting decision-making and overseeing action tracking ensuring follow through to delivery.
  • Deliver high quality briefings for senior meetings, co-ordinate and produce key outputs on behalf of Directors, including presentations, Board reports and weekly updates, ensuring consistency, accuracy and impactful communication.
  • Manage divisional internal and external communications and help to organise Divisional events.
  • Identify key issues that might need escalation to Directors and identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and smooth running of the Division.
  • Provide full secretariat support for Divisional meetings including agendas, papers and actions, supporting senior leadership governance and building networks across senior offices.
Skills required
  • Minimum: Proven experience of managing a busy workload, prioritising effectively and delivering under pressure, including handling multiple issues.
  • Proven experience of managing work autonomously and delivering outputs efficiently.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at all levels through collaboration and influencing.
  • Essential: Understanding of (or willingness to learn) R&CO’s organisational remit.
  • An ability to analyse and rapidly assimilate new information and understand complex issues to provide practical and constructive recommendations or escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Strong written communication skills with good attention to detail and good verbal communication skills and the ability to tailor your approach to varied audiences.
  • Discretion, confidence and composure when dealing with sensitive and complex situations.
  • Tenacity to question and challenge all levels of the FCA (where appropriate) in a constructive and positive manner.
  • Works well with others and earns trust quickly, while communicating ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Willingness to handle shifting workloads and commitment to the role, including the ability to work well when demands are high and to short deadlines.
