Focus Washrooms are seeking a highly motivated and professional Finance Executive to join the Focus Washrooms Finance team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in closing communication gaps between Project Managers and the Finance Manager. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to contribute to our Company's growth.
Duties
- Sales Ledger & Credit Control
- Raise and send sales invoices to customers.
- Customer master data stewardship: new account setups, credit terms, addresses, VAT numbers, contact details.
- Credit control: chase overdue balances, agree and document payment plans, check credit scores/limits, and maintain the customer stop list in line with policy.
- Allocate incoming receipts promptly and accurately; investigate and clear unmatched payments.
- Produce the Aged Debtors report with clear commentary on risks, expected receipts, and actions.
- Process customer refunds through the bank.
- Purchase-to-Pay (Suppliers & Subcontractors)
- Purchase invoice input and coding; match invoices to POs (POs raised by others); resolve mismatches and queries.
- Supplier statement reconciliations and purchase ledger reconciliations; report on overdue supplier invoices with actions.
- Organise payment runs in line with the payment calendar and approvals matrix; issue remittances to suppliers.
- Subcontractor HMRC verification and onboarding checks; ensure documentation is complete and stored appropriately.
- Cash, Banking & Cards
- Bank reconciliations (posting, matching, and resolving reconciling items).
- Corporate/credit card management: ensure timely submission of receipts, correct coding, and monthly card statement reconciliations.
- CIS & VAT (including Domestic Reverse Charge)
- Day-to-day CIS responsibilities: verification of subcontractors, ensuring correct CIS treatment on invoices.
- Ensure accurate VAT treatment, including Domestic Reverse Charge (DRC) where applicable to construction services.
- WIP & Project Accounting
- Full responsibility for Work in Progress (WIP): liaise closely with Operations and Project Managers to produce accurate monthly valuations, align revenue to delivery, and ensure costs remain accurately accounted for throughout the cost of the project.
- Prepare and maintain WIP schedules.
- Provide cost-to-complete and variance analysis against budgets/quotes.
- Validate variations/change orders and ensure timely capture of costs and revenue.
- Proactively surface anomalies (e.g., missing POs, late costs, disputes, scope changes) and drive resolution with PMs/Ops.
- Other Responsibilities
- Stock take variance management.
- Answer finance queries from management and the wider team (breakdowns, anomalies, analysis).
- Support the CFO on preparing the annual budget for Focus Washrooms.
- Support the annual audit and year-end statutory accounts queries with requested samples.
Experience
- 5+ yearsβ experience in a finance role within a project-based environment (e.g., construction/FM/services installations, fit-out, or similar).
- Hands-on bookkeeping across AR/AP, bank, and reconciliations.
- CIS and VAT (including Domestic Reverse Charge) exposure in day-to-day processing.
- Demonstrable WIP/project accounting experience (valuation, cost-to-complete, unbilled vs. billed).
- Previous experience managing Work In Progress in a project management business.
Technical Skills
- Excel β essential (Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, basic data cleaning and analysis).
- Sage 200 β or similar ERP β desirable.
- Solid understanding of credit control best practice and bank/payment processes.

- Strong stakeholder management with Operations and Project Managers; confident to challenge and explain finance impacts.
