With over 30 years of expertise, we are an award-winning direct marketing agency that blends data led insight, creative strategy, and world class print production. We work with some of the UK’s fastest-growing brands to deliver measurable results through Direct Mail, Door Drops, and Strategic Print Management.
Objective of Role
We are looking for a high-energy, results-oriented New Business Development Manager to join our team. Your mission is simple: identify, engage, and convert high-potential prospects into long-term PSE partners. You will play a key role in raising our profile and positioning our agency as the go-to partner for direct mail/print marketing solutions, working closely with the senior leadership team and your existing contacts to deliver ambitious growth targets.
Job Role & Responsibilities
- Pipeline Generation: The priority of this role is to proactively identify and prospect new business opportunities within key sectors (Retail, Home Services, Finance, FMCG, etc.).
- CRM Management: Maintain a clean and active sales pipeline, providing regular reporting on KPIs, lead conversion, and revenue forecasts.
- Build strong relationships with senior decision-makers, marketing leaders, and procurement teams at prospect businesses with regular meeting check-ins to ensure conversations are maintained and progressing.
- Strategic Networking: Represent PSE at industry events and networking forums, acting as a brand ambassador for our agency.
- Consultative Selling: Understand a prospect’s marketing and print challenges and present PSE’s offline solutions (Direct Mail, Door Drops, Inserts) as a high-performing alternative or supplement to digital channels.
- Pitch Leadership: Lead the end-to-end FIRST sale process, from lead development, initial discovery calls to delivering high-impact pitches and closing deals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our CEO & Strategy teams to build bespoke "proof of concept" proposals that demonstrate our capabilities and our ability to deliver the right results for our clients.
- On-board new clients: Successfully on-board new clients, taking them from pitch to 1st order using our kaizen on-boarding process, before passing them over to Account Management team for future management.
KPI’s
- New business clients (number/value v. budget/profit) (1st order)
- Take up of PSE agency services.
Although not responsible for client retention it is important that we acquire the right clients that recognise the importance of the print channel in their marketing mix and will continue with 2nd/3rd orders.
What does success look like
- Onboarding of at least 15 good quality clients per annum, who are highly likely to continue using print marketing after their initial order.
- A pipeline of prospects who you are regularly in discussions with.
- New clients on-boarded successfully and high client satisfaction.
Key Attributes: Skills & Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a B2B New Business/Sales role, ideally within a marketing agency, media sales, or the print/mail industry.
- Tenacious Prospector: You are comfortable with cold outreach, LinkedIn social selling, and "opening doors" that others find closed.
- A knowledge of direct mail or integrated marketing and ROI-driven marketing.
- Excellent consultative selling and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a leadership team.
