PSE Consulting are seeking a manager to join our team and take responsibility for delivering high-quality consulting engagements while deepening client relationships and supporting business development activity.
As a manager you will be responsible for leading project workstreams, managing day-to-day client engagement, and ensuring the successful delivery of consulting projects across the payments value chain. You will work closely with directors and client relationship owners to understand client needs, shape project approaches and deliver salient recommendations. This role combines project delivery, client management, and support for sales and bid processes. It is ideal for someone with payments expertise who is ready to take ownership of client outcomes and help grow long-term client relationships.

We work with a broad range of clients including merchants, acquirers, issuers, card schemes, PSPs, processors, fintechs and investors. Our projects span strategy, commercial analysis, customer insights, operating model design, proposition development and market assessments. Most of our work covers the UK and Europe but we have a global reach with many projects embracing Asia, Australasia and the Americas.
What you will do:
- Work full-time (37.5 hours a week), typically four days in our central London office and a day from home.
- Be accountable for project outcomes, ensuring work is delivered to time, quality and budget.
- Work closely with colleagues to develop analysis, insights and project recommendations.
- Prepare clear and well-structured project final reports, ensuring insights are actionable and aligned to client objectives.
- Present findings to clients, articulating complex concepts clearly and confidently.
- Support the preparation of proposals, bids, and assignment scoping documents.
- Assist in developing thought leadership and insights that support PSE’s market presence.
What we are looking for:
- Experience in management consulting, strategy or specialist project-based roles within the payments industry.
- Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, emerging technologies, and market trends.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent client interaction skills with experience in building or maintaining client relationships.
- High-quality written and verbal communication, including experience preparing reports and presenting recommendations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Preferred:
- Prior consulting experience at manager or senior associate level.
- Experience contributing to or preparing bids and commercial proposals.
- Understanding of both technical and commercial aspects of payments.
- Familiarity with European or global payments markets.
Recruitment process: If short-listed, you will have an initial online interview with two of our consultants. If successful in the initial interview, you will then be invited to visit us in our offices to meet the team and have a further interview with a small panel including our managing director. A job offer will then be made subject to our standard pre-employment checks.
