PSE Consulting would like to offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fast-moving world of payments. From embedded finance to agentic commerce, steered by increasing regulatory scrutiny, the payments industry is constantly evolving and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic to become deeply engaged in this essential element of the UK and global economies.

As a junior consultant you will learn about all aspects of payments and, with the support of our expert team, deliver actionable insights to major players in the industry. The role combines detailed analysis and research with presenting your findings to our blue-chip clients. These include the card schemes (e.g. Visa and Mastercard), major banks, fintechs and multinational corporations. We work closely with senior stakeholders and expect our team to bring intellectual rigour, clear thinking and high standards.

You will always deliver client-facing projects as part of a small team of two or three experienced consultants. Typical projects you will work on will involve analysing client data or creating market models and business cases, but others could involve any area of payments. You will also have important responsibilities in maintaining our foundational data sets of market information that most of our projects draw on. The varied nature of our assignments and detailed data work mean that you will have first-hand exposure to and will, in time, develop a deep knowledge of the global payments industry.

PSE Consulting is one of Europe’s leading payments consulting firms and we are widely respected for our high-quality expertise. Most of our work covers the UK and Europe but we have a global reach with many projects embracing Asia, Australasia and the Americas. We are a small, friendly consultancy meaning that your contributions will matter from your first day and you will also be able to develop your own niche areas of expertise and refine your role as you gain experience. As you do so, you can expect to increase your salary rapidly, subject to performance.

What you will do:

  • Work full-time (37.5 hours a week), typically four days in our central London office and a day from home
  • Create and update financial models and data analysis
  • Research and collate market information and data
  • Create and deliver client presentations
  • Help with project co-ordination
  • Deepen your industry knowledge and keep up with market trends through reading and attending seminars and industry events

What we are looking for:

  • At least two years’ business experience with a professional services firm
  • Strong academic record
  • Intellectual curiosity and initiative
  • Evidence of delivering outcomes: owning tasks end-to-end, managing stakeholders and producing high-quality work
  • Professional discipline: attention to detail, meeting deadlines and upholding quality without constant supervision
  • Robust Excel skills and confidence with a high level of analytical work, data and charting
  • Strong skills in other Microsoft applications, particularly PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand and communicate findings of analysis and research succinctly, both orally and in writing
  • Willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks
  • Fluent and accurate written English and oral communication ability

In short, you will be expected to learn quickly, think critically and produce work that is client-ready: structured, accurate and well-evidenced.

Recruitment process:

If short-listed, you will have an initial online interview with two of our consultants. If successful in the initial interview, you will then be invited to visit us in our offices where you will be asked to perform a work-related exercise, meet the team and have a further interview with a small panel including our managing director. A job offer will then be made subject to our standard pre-employment checks.

How to apply:

Please submit your CV together with a short note (max one page) covering:
