The Merchant Solutions segment of the global payments (Acquiring) business is seeking an experienced Interim to improve and modernise the efficiency of their global small to medium CDD operations business. The role requires a strong leader who is operationally robust.
A Customer Due Diligence subject expert with the necessary interpersonal skills to identify new ways of working (TOM's, Processes, pKYC, automation etc.) and to drive the necessary actions.
- Take steps to ensure that processes for SMB client due diligence, on-boarding, on-going reviews, planning, KRIs are effective, and that CDD is completed in a timely fashion and to a high standard.
- Identify and critically analyse collected information and data, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with external regulations.
- Engagement and delivery on project related work relating to the CDD/KYC remediation programme.
- Drive successful completion of all remediation work, manage risks appropriately, and embed a long-term strategy to minimise the AML risk profile.
- Monitor, drive, and see projects to successful conclusion, providing constructive challenge and solutions.
- Drive down backlog of overdue reviews and ensure that future backlog does not exceed an agreed tolerance.
- Support analysis and monitoring of transactions / implementing transaction alerts.
- Ensure the AML policy correctly reflects the business and develop suitable KRIs, in partnership with the 2nd line of defence, to measure adherence to policy and KRIs.
- Partner with the front office to ensure all client reviews (periodic reviews, reliance testing, PEP and High-Risk work) are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard, with focus on quality of data / information standards.
- Develop and sustain target operating model (TOM), ensuring the TOM is kept up to date in line with developing legislative changes.
- Ensure that data quality standards are established and maintained.
- Identify data quality issues and a clear resolution path.
- Develop consequence framework for breaches to appropriate components of the operating model / tolerances.
- Engage and motivate key stakeholders and the wider front office, including the wider business functions.
- Attend leadership meetings and provide MI to keep management aware of risks and issues.
- Develop improvements to existing standards on AML / KYC controls in partnership with the 2nd line of defence.
- Lead and influence client facing teams and monitoring teams to adapt practices in line with regulatory / legislative changes to AML / KYC processes.
- Lead on evolving market practices in client due diligence and enhanced due diligence / transaction monitoring and sanctions processes.
- Ensure management awareness of emerging and key risks / overdue reviews and relevant issues, along with a plan to address.
Other: Pragmatic and commercial with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to direct and influence senior colleagues to drive effective decision-making and execution.
