Job Description
Our client is a premier provider of wealth and institutional services. Their parent company are a USA Bank who have opened a branch and are mid-way through the licence process with the PRA for a New banking entity in the UK. They are looking for an investments Risk expert to develop an appropriate Risk Appetite for the UK Branch.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead the development of comprehensive risk management frameworks that align with both the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements
- Oversee setting and management of the risk exposures across the UK Branch
- Oversee management of risks and risk controls across the UK Branch within the parameters of the UK Branch risk management framework
- Provide independent oversight and challenge of effectiveness of processes for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, management and reporting.
- Monitor business compliance with UK Branch policies and procedures and effectiveness of risk identification and management
- Provide oversight and challenge of Risk Management information, including scope, timeliness, and effectiveness.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
- Monitor internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 10 years’ risk management related experience (risk, compliance, legal, audit),
- Strong understanding of relevant products in commercial lending and treasury operations
- Strong correspondent banking knowledge
- Strong risk analysis knowledge
- Working knowledge of Loan Agency and Structured Finance products
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations and key regulatory regimes
- Knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice in the UK financial services industry
- Minimum 5 years’ managerial or supervisory experience
- Previous experience of holding SMF4 would be an advantage
