Group Finance | Statutory Reporting | IFRS | Plc Environment
London Based
Fixed term Contract to July 2027
Salary: up to £75k
Are you an ACA or ACCA-qualified accountant looking to take the next step in your career within a complex Group Finance environment?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant statutory reporting programme, applying your technical accounting expertise across a diverse group of entities while gaining valuable exposure to Plc reporting, external audit and the wider Group Finance function.
As Technical Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the Group’s 2026 year-end, overseeing the preparation of their statutory accounts, including around 50 entities subject to external audit. With a filing deadline of 30 June 2027, you will coordinate the process from preparation and review through to audit completion, ensuring every account is accurate, compliant and delivered to a high standard.
The role offers a strong blend of technical accounting, financial reporting and stakeholder engagement, making it particularly well suited to an accountant moving out of practice or taking their first post-qualified move within industry.
The Opportunity
Working closely with the Head of Group Reporting and colleagues across Group Finance, you will help ensure the Group meets its statutory reporting obligations while supporting the production of the Plc Annual Report and Accounts.
You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of IFRS in a practical, commercially relevant environment, work directly with external auditors and collaborate with tax, operational and wider business teams.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys technical accounting, takes pride in the quality of their work and can bring structure and clarity to a demanding reporting timetable.
Key responsibilities
Statutory accounts and audit coordination
- Manage the end-to-end preparation and delivery of approximately 150 statutory accounts across the Group, ensuring compliance with IFRS and relevant statutory requirements.
- Coordinate the external audit of approximately 50 entities, working closely with Group Finance, operational teams and external auditors.
- Maintain clear reporting timetables, supporting schedules, working papers and review processes to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Respond to audit queries and ensure supporting evidence is robust, clear and readily available.
Technical accounting and IFRS
- Apply technical accounting knowledge to statutory reporting and wider Group Finance activities.
- Support the assessment and documentation of accounting judgements, disclosures and audit positions.
- Ensure financial statements and supporting schedules are accurate, consistent and prepared to a high standard.
- Help resolve technical accounting queries and communicate conclusions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Month-end and Group reporting
- Support selected areas of the month‑end close, including reporting schedules, reconciliations, journals and analytical reviews.
- Contribute to the Group year‑end close and preparation of the Plc Annual Report and Accounts including financial information for management, lenders and investors.
- Use finance systems, including Caseware and Yardi, to support statutory accounts preparation, review and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, strengthen controls and improve the quality of working papers.
Key skills for this role will include :
- Be ACA or ACCA qualified, with a strong grounding in financial reporting and technical accounting.
- Proven working knowledge of IFRS and the ability to apply accounting standards confidently.
- Essential experience preparing statutory accounts, ideally across multiple entities.
- Experience supporting external audits and responding to auditor queries.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines across a large portfolio of entities.
- Attention to detail, and the confidence to investigate discrepancies and challenge results.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters to non finance stakeholders.
- A proactive approach, with an interest in improving systems and processes
- Strong Excel skills and Experience using Caseware would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
This opportunity is particularly suited to an accountant taking their first move out of practice or making an early post-qualified move within industry. You may already have experience preparing or auditing statutory accounts and be looking for the opportunity to apply that expertise within a Group Finance team, with greater exposure to the full reporting cycle.
You will be organised, technically curious and comfortable taking ownership of detailed work. Just as importantly, you will enjoy working collaboratively, communicating with stakeholders and finding better ways to deliver high‑quality financial reporting.
If you are an ACA or ACCA‑qualified accountant with strong statutory accounts experience and are ready to take on a broader technical accounting role, this is an opportunity to build on your existing expertise and develop your career within a Group Finance environment.
