Are you the kind of Technical Product Manager who wants real ownership, not layers of process? We’re recruiting on a retained and confidential basis for a growing UK technology business operating at the sharp end of energy, communications and expeditionary systems. This is a hands‑on role in a small, agile organisation where collaboration isn’t a slogan – it’s how things get done. If you enjoy working in close‑knit teams, rolling your sleeves up, and seeing your products make a tangible difference in demanding operational environments, this could be for you.
The Opportunity:
You’ll take end‑to‑end ownership of a technically advanced product portfolio – from early concept and development through qualification, production, in‑service support and eventual end‑of‑life. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll act as the technical glue between Engineering, Business Development, Operations and Commercial teams, ensuring products are technically robust, operationally relevant and commercially viable. This is not a “PowerPoint product” role. It’s about delivery, teamwork and impact.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Translating real‑world customer and operational needs into clear, deliverable product requirements.
- Working side‑by‑side with Engineering to support design, prototyping, testing and validation.
- Prioritising product development alongside Business Development to meet market and delivery timelines.
- Owning qualification, compliance, configuration control and technical documentation.
- Supporting proposals and tenders with credible, accurate technical input.
- Managing products through their full lifecycle – development, production, support and evolution.
- Coordinating across Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure production readiness and cost control.
- Capturing user feedback and driving continuous improvement.
- Supporting R&D activity, including technical input into UK R&D Tax Credit submissions.
- Ensuring relevant standards and codification requirements are met where applicable.
What We’re Looking For:
- A degree in Engineering, Product Management or a related technical discipline.
- Proven experience in product management or technical project management.
- Background in defence, energy, ruggedised systems or similarly demanding environments (highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and qualification processes.
- Comfortable working across technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Organised, pragmatic and calm under pressure.
- Someone who thrives in a “we’re all in this together” culture rather than a corporate hierarchy.
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Genuine ownership and influence
- Direct access to decision-makers
- Cutting‑edge technology with real operational purpose
- The chance to shape products – and a business – as it grows
If you’re a technically credible Product Manager who wants to work in a trusted, agile environment where your contribution truly matters, I’d welcome a confidential conversation.
