Role Overview
The Procurement Manager will have ownership of an indirect spend portfolio of approximately £100m. This includes a wide range of categories such as facilities management, IT and systems, professional services. The role is central to driving value, resilience, and compliance across procurement activity in a highly regulated, operationally critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver robust category strategies across indirect spend, with a strong focus on total cost of ownership, risk management, and supplier performance.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activity including tendering, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, contract award, and ongoing supplier management.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across operations, engineering, IT, HR, finance, and site leadership to align procurement activity with business priorities.
- Track market dynamics and supplier capabilities to identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and continuity of supply.
- Ensure procurement activity aligns with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and ESG commitments, particularly within a safety-critical environment.
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, capability, and ways of working.
- Produce clear reporting on savings delivery, KPIs, supplier performance, and risk.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a Procurement Manager or Senior Category Manager role, ideally within a business with a strategic procurement function.
- Track record of managing large, complex, multi-category spend portfolios (typically £50m+).
- Strong commercial capability with well-developed negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Sound understanding of procurement governance, contract management, and supplier performance frameworks.
- CIPS qualified or actively working towards professional accreditation.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and credible, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment.
