Our client is part of a large financial services organisation and has a requirement for an interim Senior Engineering Manager.

Their offices are based in the Channel Islands but the role can be based remotely with monthly trips to the office for 2-3 days at a time.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Technology leadership team, with the responsibility to support transformation and modernisation across the organisation.

The role is responsible for defining and delivering a scalable, secure and efficient technology landscape that underpins the organisation’s strategic goals.

You will lead multiple engineering teams across software development, infrastructure, and cloud platforms, ensuring high‑quality delivery, operational resilience, and continuous improvement.

This role sits within the Technology function and works closely with product, operations, security, and business stakeholders to translate business outcomes into robust, modern engineering solutions.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary software engineering teams in an enterprise or complex digital environment.
  • Strong capability in systems development management and solution architecture.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern engineering practices – agile delivery, CI/CD, automated testing, Dev Ops and cloud‑native approaches.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing backlogs, roadmaps and dependencies across multiple products or platforms.
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (e. g. Azure, AWS, GCP) and hosting options, including migration of on‑premise solutions to cloud.
  • Strong grasp of security, compliance and operational resilience, including BCP/DR, RPO/RTO and security by design principles.
  • Experience in infrastructure and platform optimisation, including performance, scalability and cost‑efficiency.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication, able to articulate complex technical issues in business terms.
  • Proven people leadership and coaching skills, including developing managers/tech leads and shaping team culture.
  • Experience in regulated sectors (e. g. financial services, public sector, healthcare) with associated compliance regimes.
  • Knowledge of service management frameworks (e. g. ITIL) and how they integrate with agile/Dev Ops delivery (Desirable).
  • Experience with Fin Ops / cloud cost management practices (Desirable)
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional certifications beneficial, for example: Cloud: Azure/AWS/GCP architect level certifications.
  • Agile/Delivery: Scrum Master, SAFe, Prince2 Agile, or similar.
  • IT service / governance: ITIL, COBIT (desirable).
  • Security (for strong security emphasis): CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience with Temenos T24 or Salesforce would be advantageous.
