Business Relationship Director to provide strategic leadership across technology, operations and business functions, ensuring the successful alignment of technology capabilities with broader organisational objectives.

Reporting into the COO, this role will serve as the principal relationship lead for key business functions, acting as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders while driving the effective delivery of technology services, strategic programmes and business transformation initiatives.

The Role

The Business Relationship Director will be accountable for fostering strong partnerships between business leadership and technology and operations teams, ensuring that investment decisions, operational priorities and transformation programmes are aligned to corporate strategy and deliver measurable business value.

This position requires a commercially astute and highly influential leader who can operate effectively within a complex, matrix-managed environment, balancing strategic objectives with operational delivery whilst maintaining strong relationships across both business and technology communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal point of accountability between business leadership and technology and operations teams, ensuring alignment of priorities, objectives and outcomes.
  • Partner with senior executives to develop and execute technology and operational strategies that support long-term business goals.
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritise strategic business initiatives, helping to shape investment decisions and business cases.
  • Drive the successful delivery of business and technology transformation programmes through effective stakeholder engagement and governance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the resolution of complex operational challenges and the delivery of strategic business outcomes.
  • Provide oversight and escalation management for critical service, delivery and operational issues.
  • Present technology strategies, performance measures, risks and opportunities to senior leadership teams.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement through the evaluation of emerging technologies, industry trends and best practices.
  • Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of business acumen, stakeholder engagement expertise and technology leadership experience.

Applicants should demonstrate

  • Significant experience within Business Relationship Management, Technology Business Partnering, Business Transformation or Strategic Technology and Operations Leadership roles.
  • A proven ability to build credibility and influence at Executive and Board level.
  • Strong understanding of technology and business operating models, service delivery and organisational transformation.
  • Experience of supporting complex business functions and translating business requirements into effective technology solutions.
  • Excellent commercial and financial awareness, including business case development and investment prioritisation.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and business-focused manner.
  • Strong programme, project and change management capabilities, ideally including experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Experience withing the insurance sector, ideally in risk, actuarial, claims and or finance, is essential for this role.
