Credit Risk Manager – Real Estate Finance
Location: London
Our client, an award‑winning UK bank, is seeking an astute and technically accomplished Credit Risk professional to join their Real Estate Finance team. This isn\’t a role for the generalist—we need someone with deep, demonstrable expertise who can navigate the complexities of both development and investment lending with confidence and precision.
If you thrive on rigorous credit analysis, understand the nuances that differentiate development risk from stabilised investment portfolios, and can apply sophisticated judgment to complex lending scenarios, this role offers the platform to make a significant impact.
What Makes This Role Different
This position sits at the critical intersection of strategic growth and disciplined risk management. You\’ll be the technical authority within the second line of defence, working collaboratively with Relationship Directors and senior leadership to evaluate high‑value lending opportunities while maintaining the robust credit standards that underpin sustainable portfolio growth.
You\’ll have genuine influence—not just reviewing submissions, but actively shaping credit decisions, advising on restructuring cases, contributing to new product development, and enhancing the risk frameworks that govern the business.
Key Responsibilities

- Oversee preparation and delivery of accurate, timely management information to the Executive Committee
- Monitor evolving regulatory requirements and guide the organisation through necessary adaptations
- Maintain rigorous processes to support successful internal and external audit outcomes
Who We’re Looking For
- Deep technical expertise in Real Estate Finance credit risk with substantial experience across both development and investment lending portfolios—you understand the distinct risk profiles, appraisal methodologies, and stress‑testing requirements for speculative development versus stabilised income‑producing assets
- Astute credit judgement developed through your experience of evaluating complex lending propositions, with the ability to identify subtle risks that others might overlook
- Comprehensive understanding of credit risk principles, governance frameworks, and the regulatory landscape affecting Real Estate Finance
- Proven track record of making sound credit decisions on high‑value, complex transactions
- Strong technical skills in financial modelling, cash flow analysis, and understanding development appraisals, loan‑to‑value covenants, and debt service coverage metrics
