Overview

What you’ll do:

You’ll support the delivery of earthing system studies for new and existing high voltage sites across the UK. You’ll work alongside experienced consultants, getting involved in site surveys, analysis and design work, and gradually taking on more responsibility through time.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery of earthing system studies in line with UK standards and DNO requirements
  • Taking part in HV site surveys with support from senior team members, including soil resistivity testing, earthing impedance measurements, continuity checks and visual inspections
  • Helping to develop earthing system designs from early concepts through to detailed design
  • Producing clear, well‑structured technical reports and documentation
  • Working closely with colleagues to solve engineering problems and support project delivery
  • Supporting project tracking activities such as actions, risks, issues and schedules

The team is based in Wales and covers the surrounding counties, along with sites in Southern Scotland. We’d love to hear from candidates who are happy to travel across the UK to support site surveys. This typically involves short periods away from home – usually around 2–3 nights every few weeks. Some site work can be hands on and may include physical activities such as inspections and carrying equipment to take electrical measurements. A full UK driving license is required.

  • Comfortable producing clear technical reports and documentation
  • Any experience with earthing studies or site surveys is a bonus
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools is helpful
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Curious, proactive and keen to learn

  • 25 days’ annual leave
  • Flexible working, including the option to work abroad for up to 30 days per year
