solutions to the construction industry. With a focus on safety, compliance, and innovative
design, we support a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects across the UK and beyond.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CAD Designer to join our design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and layout plans for smoke ventilation and smoke control systems in accordance with current building regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
·Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings for smoke control systems including natural and mechanical ventilation.
·Develop and update layout plans, schematics, and fabrication drawings for use in design submissions, client reviews, and site installation.
·Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors to integrate smoke control designs into broader construction packages.
·Ensure designs are fully compliant with UK Building Regulations (e.g. Approved Document B), BS EN 12101 series, and other relevant standards.
·Maintain drawing registers, adhere to project timelines, and document control procedures.
·Participate in design review meetings and support the development of design proposals from concept to as built.
·Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to incorporate appropriate components and ensure buildability.
Requirements:
·Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D essential).
·Understanding of construction drawings, detailing, and technical specifications.
·Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations related to fire safety and ventilation.
·Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drawing production.
·Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
·Effective communication and collaboration skills.
·Experience using Revit or other BIM software.
·Familiarity with mechanical design principles and system coordination.
·ONC/HNC or higher qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
·Previous experience within the smoke control, HVAC, MEP, or building services industry.
Hours
Hours of work – Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm with 30 minutes for lunch (an additional 2 hours can be worked Monday – Thursday to allow your day to end at 2.30pm on Fridays) with the added flexibility of hybrid working.
Holiday entitlement
You will receive 25 working days as holiday in addition to the 8 statutory holidays. Statutory holidays are included within your entitlement and therefore, can be worked to allow you to use these 8 days at your own request. The holiday year runs 1st January to 31st December each year.
