Purpose of the Role:

To manage the day-to-day financial administration of the business, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll and banking activities, whilst producing accurate management information to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Financial Processing:

  • Maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Process purchase invoices, expenses and supplier payments.
  • Raise sales invoices and monitor debtor balances.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and control accounts.
  • Manage company credit card and expense processes.

Payroll & Benefits:

  • Process monthly payroll.
  • Administer pension contributions and employee benefit deductions.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner and records are maintained accurately.

Management Reporting:

  • Produce monthly management reports.
  • Assist in preparation of management accounts.
  • Monitor income, expenditure and cash flow.
  • Prepare reports analyzing revenue, costs and business performance.Provide ad hoc financial information to Directors.

Financial Administration:

  • Support annual audit and year-end processes.
  • Assist with budgeting activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset and financial records.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls are followed.

Compliance:

  • Support VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with internal financial procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of financial information.

Essential Criteria:

Qualifications:

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in bookkeeping and financial administration.
  • Payroll processing experience.
  • Experience using accounting software.
  • Experience preparing management reports.
  • Bank reconciliation and ledger management experience.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills.

Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications:

  • Part-qualified or qualified ACCA/CIMA.
  • Payroll qualification.

Experience:

  • Experience in an SME environment.
  • Experience of preparing management accounts.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of financial services or professional services sectors.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience with payroll systems.Knowledge of VAT and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience of business reporting and KPI analysis.
