Scope
The position is established as the Global Head of the Retail and Consumer Vertical.
The incumbent will be responsible for the Verticals growth, leadership and talent development within North America, South America, EMEA, India and APAC.
- Deliverables
- Run and Manage the Global Vertical focused on growing sales in all Regions
- Develop the broader Vertical Strategy and deliver it to Direct reports
- Strategically align with global leadership to champion the accounts to support customer satisfaction and continued partnership.
- Plan and coordinate the transition of the customer to the Vertical Strategy for Operations and IT Systems to ensure the vertical can realize global optimization synergies and greater process automation.
- New Business Development across all Regions
- A priority for each region is to win new business in line with the vertical strategy.
- Develop and present business cases to the Leadership Team to explain, educate and detail assumptions, baseline structure, asset investments, depreciation values, implementation costs, operational and FTE operating costs and deployment timelines.
- Lead System Demonstrator
- Engage, mentor, support and act as a role model to the Control Tower team members to ensure they are driving an optimised workflow, adhering to associated SOP's and identifying potential optimisations to drive performance.
- Develop a region specific pipeline for direct reports to work on to support the rapid growth and development of the vertical, specifically targeting global headquarters located in the various regions.
- Identify and maintain the BD Sales Network pipeline and ensure that the vertical team supports, enhances and demonstrates value in closing new business for the BD Sales Network
- Establish, maintain and own both internal and external KPI's and recommend process improvements, adopting lean logistics practices and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ensure that KPIs are met in full and on time
- Meet with customers to drive relationship development, identify new business markets for development and apply this focused development approach to direct and indirect reports
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training workshops, conferences and seminars
- Identify potential gaps in existing or related procedures, systems and tools
- Job Requirements
- Solid knowledge of ocean freight and CFS warehouse operations
- Experience in freight services
- Strong relationships with customer network to leverage PSA BDP implementation
- Experience of serving global retail customers is essential
- Strong ability to define, train, develop and document operational processes and procedures
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally within a matrix organization
- Self-motivated, flexible and resilient
- Highly results oriented and customer focused
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Good networking and relationship building skills
- Ability to make informed judgements and generate practical, timely solutions
- Ability to travel globally - expected travel may be in excess of 40%.
- Degree holder with a minimum of 5 years operational work experience in global freight forward/logistics company
- Minimum of 2 years experience in CFS warehousing operations, contract logistics and related matters.
- Exposure and knowledge of 3PL and Order/Freight Management operations
- Excellent English and local language skills
This role is open to being based anywhere in Europe or the US.
