P S Recruitment are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently recruiting a Maintenance Assistant to join their busy team in Great Yarmouth on a full time, permanent basis.
Role Summary:
Our client is seeking a proactive, highly reliable Maintenance Technician / Handyman to take ownership of day-to-day maintenance across their serviced accommodation portfolio in East Norfolk.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks across multiple properties, ensuring all work is completed to a high professional standard.
- Plumbing (Basic Works): Repairing leaks, replacing taps and shower fittings; fixing toilet mechanisms and flush systems; unblocking sinks and waste pipes; replacing sealant around baths, showers, and sinks.
- Basic Electrics (Within Competence): Replacing light fittings, switches, sockets; troubleshooting minor electrical faults; replacing smoke alarms and extractor fans.
- Carpentry & General Repairs: Adjusting or rehanging doors; replacing locks, handles, hinges; installing shelving, blinds, fixtures; minor plaster and cosmetic repairs.
- Appliance & Finishing Works: Diagnosing and resolving common appliance issues; minor painting and touch-ups; professional silicone application; all repairs must be both functional and visually well-finished, suitable for a premium serviced accommodation environment.
- Preventative Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct structured property inspections; identify wear and tear before it becomes a guest issue; maintain preventative maintenance schedules; report recurring faults and recommend long-term solutions.
- Scheduling & Property Coverage: Independently plan and manage daily workload; prioritise urgent guest-impacting issues; ensure fast turnaround between guest stays; maintain flexibility for emergency call-outs.
- Parts, Tools & Materials: Source required parts and materials independently; maintain stock of commonly used items; ensure cost-effective purchasing without compromising quality; provide and maintain your own professional tools (essential); own van preferred.
- Reporting & Systems: Log all jobs in QF Living's maintenance system; provide clear documentation and photos; escalate structural or recurring issues; contribute to improving long-term property condition.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in general property maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Highly organised and self-managing.
- Comfortable using online systems.
- Full UK driving licence (Essential).
- Own professional tools (Essential).
- Own van (Desirable).
- Basic knowledge of residential compliance.
Working Hours:
Monday – Friday, minimum 30 hours (open for discussion – can go up to 40 hours per week). Please note due to the line of work, issues may arise outside standard working hours, and responsiveness is critical to maintaining service quality – however time will be given back.
