Overview

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.

This role involves supervising a team of warehouse operatives, coordinating workflow, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of warehouse operatives, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, including goods‑in, goods‑out, picking, packing, replenishment, and stock movements.
  • Monitor productivity and ensure targets, KPIs, and service levels are consistently met.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe working practices.
  • Train and develop team members, including onboarding new staff and upskilling existing colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, investigate discrepancies, and support regular stock counts.
  • Operate warehouse equipment (e. g., forklifts, pallet trucks) where required and ensure equipment is used safely.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments such as transport, planning, and customer service.
  • Support continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Handle issues proactively, including staffing challenges, workflow bottlenecks, and operational problems.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse processes, stock control, and operational workflows.
  • Excellent communication and people‑management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Good IT skills, including experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • A proactive, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving ability.
  • Forklift licence (desirable but not always essential).
