We are looking for a highly experienced and strong-willed Warehouse Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of a busy, high-volume warehouse. This is a hands-on management position requiring someone with the authority, experience and leadership skills to manage large teams, drive standards and ensure the warehouse operates safely, efficiently and to the highest possible levels of productivity. The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing warehouse operations across Goods In, Goods Out, Picking, Packing, Stock Control, Inventory and Dispatch, together with the ability to manage, motivate and, when necessary, challenge a large workforce. Key Responsibilities * Lead, manage and motivate a large warehouse workforce, including Team Leaders, Supervisors, Pickers, Packers, FLT drivers and other warehouse personnel. Work closely with transport, purchasing, production, sales and senior management teams. * Ensure all warehouse areas are adequately staffed and operating efficiently. * Manage Goods In and Goods Out operations, ensuring deliveries and dispatches are processed accurately and on time. * Deal with operational issues quickly and effectively. * Maintain extremely high standards of stock accuracy and inventory control. Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies. * Monitor productivity, performance and attendance across the warehouse team. Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable for their performance. * Work closely with HR and senior management on recruitment, disciplinary matters, absence management and staff development. * Monitor KPIs and produce regular performance reports. * Identify areas for improvement and implement more efficient working practices. * Maintain accurate warehouse records and systems. * Ensure warehouse space is utilised effectively and maintained to a high standard. * Ensure all warehouse equipment is properly maintained and safely operated. * Ensure full compliance with company policies, health & safety legislation and warehouse procedures. Health & Safety The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for maintaining high health and safety standards throughout the warehouse. This will include: * Ensuring staff are appropriately trained and competent for their roles. Ensuring all staff follow company health & safety procedures. * Ensuring appropriate PPE is worn. * Managing safe working practices around FLTs and warehouse machinery. * Ensuring warehouse traffic management procedures are followed. * Carrying out and reviewing risk assessments where required. * Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses. Experience & Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: * Extensive warehouse management experience, preferably within a large-volume operation. Strong experience across Goods In, Goods Out, Picking, Packing, Dispatch and Stock Control. * Experience with recruitment, staff training, performance management and disciplinary procedures. * Excellent knowledge of inventory management and warehouse management systems. * Strong understanding of warehouse KPIs and productivity targets. The ability to analyse warehouse data and identify operational improvements. * Strong understanding of warehouse health & safety requirements. * Relevant and up-to-date warehouse qualifications/certifications. * Excellent IT and administration skills. * FLT certification and experience would be highly advantageous.
