P+S Care & Support are recruiting on behalf of our client for passionate and experienced Flexible Support Workers to join their growing team. If you are someone who believes that people living with mental health needs can make positive changes, build resilience and achieve greater independence, this could be the opportunity for you. Our client takes a therapeutic and recovery-focused approach, supporting individuals to move forward on their recovery journey, develop independence and ultimately move on to more independent living.

About the Role

As a Flexible Support Worker, you will provide person-centred, recovery-focused support to adults with enduring mental health needs across a range of services and locations. You will work alongside clients to identify their goals, build confidence and develop the practical skills they need to live as independently as possible. Every day will be different, and the role will involve working across different services and locations to meet the needs of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing social, emotional and practical support to clients in their homes and within the community
  • Supporting clients to develop independence and work towards their individual recovery goals
  • Helping clients prepare for and achieve successful move-on within a defined recovery pathway
  • Supporting clients with complex needs and dual diagnosis
  • Developing and reviewing individual support plans and risk assessments
  • Using a Recovery Star approach to monitor and celebrate progress
  • Supporting clients with tenancy management, including rent, bills, repairs and maintaining their accommodation
  • Helping clients access education, employment, volunteering and community opportunities
  • Supporting clients to develop practical, social and life skills
  • Liaising with GPs, Social Services, Community Mental Health Teams, substance misuse services, housing providers and other professionals
  • Supporting clients during periods of crisis and helping them develop resilience
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, carers and external professionals
  • Contributing to a safe, positive and supportive environment across services

About You

We are looking for people who are compassionate, resilient and genuinely committed to helping others achieve positive outcomes. You will ideally have experience working with adults with enduring mental health needs or within a similar support setting.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting people with mental health needs and/or complex needs
  • Experience working with people with dual diagnosis would be advantageous
  • An understanding of recovery-focused support
  • The ability to build positive, professional relationships with clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to recognise changes in someone's presentation and identify when further intervention may be required
  • A calm, patient and non-judgemental approach
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while also being an effective team member
  • A flexible approach to working across different services and locations
  • A genuine commitment to equality, diversity and person-centred support

Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, housing legislation or housing management would be desirable but is not essential.

Why Join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation that genuinely focuses on recovery, independence and positive outcomes, rather than simply providing a service. You will be joining a supportive team where your contribution can make a real difference to the people you support, helping individuals build confidence, develop life skills and take meaningful steps towards greater independence. You will also have access to ongoing learning and development, regular supervision, team support and training.

The Important Bit

This is a flexible role, so you must be able to work across a 7-day rota, including evenings, and be comfortable working across different services and locations. If you're passionate about mental health support and want a role where you can genuinely see the difference you make, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today through P+S Care & Support and one of our recruitment team will be in touch to discuss the role in more detail.
