With 4 manufacturing plants in the UK, Prysmian Group is well placed to support its home and export customers for Energy and Telecom cables and accessories. Prysmian is a market leader and "innovation driver" in all major Energy and Telecom cables business activities. In the UK, Prysmian manufactures energy cables from low voltage to extremely high voltage for land applications. The High Voltage Laboratory at the Eastleigh site is a central resource for Prysmian’s worldwide manufacturing of high voltage power transmission cable. The laboratory typically tests extra high voltage cable to 1 million volts and is the only facility of its kind in the UK.
The main purpose of the trainee role is to learn the testing principles associated with HV cables and accessories within the Bishopstoke High Voltage Laboratory, to assist with the setting up tests to international specifications and to record test results accurately.
Responsibilities
- To assist with the setup of tests, including process control instrumentation.
- Becoming familiar with international testing standards.
- To assist in the implementation of tests as defined in relevant test procedures.
- Assisting with general laboratory housekeeping.
- Monitoring of tests & accurately recording results.
- To assist in plant maintenance activities.
- To undertake additional training where necessary.
- Assistance with the preparation of technical approval documentation.
Skills And Experience
- Technical qualification in Engineering or high grades within Mathematics / Science.
- Basic computer skills.
- Self-motivated, good manual & practical skills, high safety awareness.
- Highly organised and able to work on own with minimal supervision.
- Flexible working hours approach.
