The Assistant Accountant provides support to the FC regarding the fixed cost accounting and forecasting of the Powerlink UK business activities. The role aims to deliver efficient and effective support to the month end accounting closure and reporting of fixed cost performance against budget and forecast to applicable local business managers. This role provides key support to the FC and, in accordance with the overall business needs, ad-hoc tasks will be assigned as required.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Become the focal point for cost centre accounting for the local Powerlink business, providing support to the cost centre managers on cost queries, variance analysis & commentary on performance of actual versus budget and forecast.
- Assist in the monthly forecasting process.
- Calculation and posting of month end fixed cost accruals and prepayments.
- Calculation and posting of monthly project management time cost allocation to projects.
- Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Vendor account review and unmatched item clearing.
- Lead the vendor clearing and cost allocation process of Company’s vessel manager invoices.
- Prepare and publish monthly fixed cost performance reports.
- Attend weekly/monthly fixed cost review meetings as necessary.
- Maintain audit files for external & internal auditing.
- Have attention for detail.
- Other business reporting and ad-hoc tasks as and when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
You will be an undergraduate ideally studying a Finance or Business related degree. It is essential that you can work well in a team and possess excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
An individual who has:
- Good organisational skills.
- General computer skills and knowledge of Excel, Access and Word.
- Competency in use of pivot tables within Excel is an advantage, although full training would be given.
- Numerate.
- Ability to meet deadlines whilst working under pressure.
- Clear communicator.
