Overview

We currently have a requirement for a Laboratory Jointing Technician based within the High Voltage Laboratory at our site Bishopstoke to work on Prysmian Group contract type tests and research and development activities.

The successful applicant must have a responsible attitude and be committed to safety, have some basic knowledge of power and optical jointing and a commitment to work as part of a larger team. Applicants must be hard working, reliable, organised and enthusiastic with the ability to provide quality work and meet targets within a fast moving environment. A commitment to work a reasonable amount of overtime is required.

The UK High Voltage Laboratory tests everything from high voltage to extra high voltage cables and accessories and is the largest laboratory both within the UK and within the Prysmian Group worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • To work on XLPE and fluid filled cable projects, assisting high voltage cable jointers.
  • To assist high voltage test engineers in the setting up of tests
  • To perform optical fibre jointing and testing
  • Assist with general laboratory housekeeping
  • Assist in plant maintenance activities
  • To perform degasification and filing operations related to cable terminations

Qualifications / Experience

The successful candidate will have a can-do attitude and be able to work to a high level of accuracy, in a fast-paced environment. The individual will be willing to work flexibly to achieve deadlines as required.

A FLT licence is desirable; however, training can be provided.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate at a variety of levels internally, providing feedback to the laboratory management.

Experience in a similar role/environment is desirable.

The site location address is Prysmian Cables & Systems Limited, Chickenhall Lane, Eastleigh, Hampshire, SO50 6YU. There are good public transport links to Eastleigh and we are also able to provide free car parking.
