Prysmian Group’s business is the area of the High Voltage (HV) business dedicated to providing specialist technical services to a wide range of customers. Our ENS business operates a team of engineers, cable jointers and fluid technicians and our 24-hour call out rota system couples with our emergency hotline to ensure that we can provide a response 24 hours a day.
We currently have a vacancy for a HV Test Assistant Technician, based in our Bishopstoke site.
Reporting to the HV Test & Diagnostics Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the High Voltage cable commissioning, condition assessment and fault location tests. The position will cover, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Interfacing with the HV Test & Diagnostics Manager & HV Test Engineers to support test activities
- Carry out the erection and setup of test equipment defined by the HV Test & Diagnostics Manager and HV Test Engineers.
- Support the HV Test Engineers in coordinating the ongoing maintenance, calibration and repair of test equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Previous experience of working in a high voltage environment.
- Communication skills and team working aptitude particularly as this role requires working with a close team of people.
- Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Travel will be required; therefore a driving licence is essential.
- Ability to work away for weekday, weekend or bank holidays as required by the test program.
- A National Grid Competent Person qualification would be an advantage.
Candidates must be fully flexible in terms of availability to work away from home, at weekends and on occasion during the Bank Holidays.
This position benefits from a flexible working arrangement; 25 days holiday in addition to Bank Holidays; a health cash plan scheme; share purchase scheme in addition to other benefits.
Whilst this role will take you to all parts of the UK, it is based in our offices near the Eastleigh town centre. The address is Prysmian Cables & Systems Limited, Chickenhall Lane, Eastleigh, SO50 6YU. There are good transport links to Eastleigh and the site is approximately 15 minutes walk from the railway station. We are able to offer free car parking next to our offices.
