With 4 manufacturing plants in the UK, Prysmian Group is well placed to support its home and export customers for Energy and Telecom cables and accessories. Prysmian is a market leader and "innovation driver" in all major Energy and Telecom cables business activities. In the UK, Prysmian manufactures energy cables from low voltage to extremely high voltage for land applications. The High Voltage Laboratory at the Eastleigh site is a central resource for Prysmian’s worldwide manufacturing of high voltage power transmission cable. The laboratory typically tests extra high voltage cable to 1 million volts and is the only facility of its kind in the UK.
We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Bishopstoke. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in practical, industrial work who wants to apply their skills in a specialist environment. You’ll be working with heavy-duty equipment, setting up and maintaining mechanical rigs, and helping keep our laboratory running smoothly.
Key Activities and Responsibilities- Setting up mechanical equipment for use in the laboratory
- Maintaining and servicing mechanical test rigs and tools
- Carrying out general mechanical fitting tasks to support operations
- Undertaking additional training to build your knowledge and skills
- Handling and preparing cable sections and components for use in the lab
- A time-served apprenticeship or qualification in engineering.
- Strong practical skills and confidence working with tools and machinery
- Someone who is self-motivated, safety-conscious, and reliable
