Highly skilled and technically advanced CNC 5-Axis Programmer, Setter, Operator to join our precision engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in complex multi-axis machining, with a strong focus on high-tolerance components.
This is a hands-on role requiring full ownership of the machining process from offline programming and process development through to machine set-up, prove out and production optimisation.
You will be required to develop and optimise 5-axis CNC programs using CAM software, interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models and GD&T specifications, select appropriate cutting strategies, tooling and machining parameters, generate collision-free toolpaths and simulate full machine kinematics, and edit and optimise G-code directly at the machine where required.
Setting and setup will include performing complete machine setups, workholding and fixture solutions, tool selection, presetting, and offsets, datum setting and probing routines, configuration of machines for simultaneous 5 axis and 3 + 2 positional machining. You will also ensure repeatability, stability and process reliability.
Machine operation will include operating 5-axis machining centres, conducting first off inspections and validation of component conformity, monitoring of machining processes, troubleshooting and obtaining resolutions of machining issues in real time. You will also be involved in process improvement initiatives including implementation of Lean and best practice machining strategies.
