We are seeking a motivated and detail‑driven Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of our contract works. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, has strong commercial awareness, and can build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Main Purpose of the Role
To support the day‑to‑day running and commercial management of contract works, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with contract claims and valuations.
- Review contract terms and conditions to ensure compliance and risk control.
- Conduct contract measures and commercial forecasts.
- Assist in tender preparation, including bills of quantities.
- Track schedule amendments and update budget projections accordingly.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontractor services.
- Check and authorise subcontracts and valuations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and project professionals.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and up‑to‑date.
- Hold commercial responsibility for selected contracts, including agreeing final accounts.
- Work closely with the Contracts Management team on applications for payment.
- Maintain regular meetings/dialogue with the Commercial Manager to review contract positions.
- Maintain awareness of Health & Safety regulations.
Skill and experience required:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering, groundworks, or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of contract law, valuations, and commercial reporting.
- Experience with tendering, bills of quantities, and cost forecasting.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets effectively.
- Confident with subcontract procurement, management, and payment processes.
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
- Full UK driving licence (site travel required).
