Reporting to the HR Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Head of Resourcing plays a critical role in shaping and delivering a forward-looking resourcing strategy, aligned closely to our talent and skills agenda, to support the ambitious long-term growth strategy; and strategic priorities of M&G.
Leading a team of c. 25 colleagues, the Head of Resourcing is a member of both the HR COO Leadership Team and the department wide Extended HR Leadership Team. The HR Chief Operating Office is made up of c. 90 HR professionals, globally, covering Resourcing, Employee and Industrial Relations, HR Operations and Technology; and The Pension Scheme Executive.
It is an exciting time to join with:
- Investment funding recently secured; and planning underway, to implement market leading technology to sit alongside our core Workday system that will deliver AI led candidate sifting, candidate management and automated interview scheduling capability.
- Work underway to review and re-vamp our EVP; careers site and messaging to market.
- A desire to enhance and refine our processes to ensure our Recruiters are strategic partners to their respective clients, with greater process delivery being delivered from within our HR Operations teams.
Main Responsibilities
- Working closely with the HR Leadership team, define and lead effective delivery of the enterprise-wide resourcing strategy (both experienced hiring & early careers), aligning it to business priorities and future workforce requirements.
- Through the Resourcing Leads for Asset Management, Life & Corporate Functions; and Early Careers, build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business to understand enterprise wide hiring needs and provide insight-driven guidance.
- Work closely with our Chief People Officer and Company-Secretariat function to support the identification and sourcing of suitable NED profiles for both our PLC and subsidiary boards.
- Drive innovation in sourcing, assessment and employer positioning to strengthen access to diverse talent pools minimising the need for agency spend wherever possible.
- Proactively manage our PSL ensuring we work with the best partners; and that we maximise commercial value and ROI from any agency spend, where it is required.
- Accountability for the oversight of our principle contingent workforce supplier ensuring we obtain high quality and great service outcomes for our business.
- In partnership with our Head of HR Operations and Head of HR Systems oversee, refine, and seek to continuously improve both our candidate and hiring manager experience, embracing technology and AI wherever possible.
- In partnership with our Diversity, Inclusion and Wellbeing team ensure we offer an accessible and inclusive recruitment process that delivers diverse candidate pipelines and supports organisational diversity objectives.
- Be a source of market intelligence to relevant internal stakeholder groups. Providing insight into talent availability, skills shortages and key competitor hiring.
- Lead and develop our high performing Resourcing team. Foster a culture that supports high performance, collaboration, continuous improvement; and the development and growth of the team.
- Champion a positive risk culture across Resourcing. Ensure all resourcing activity aligns with organisational policies, governance standards and controls. Work closely and be open to feedback from our dedicated HR 1B Risk and Control Team.
- Responsibility for ensuring our external careers content does our Employee Value Proposition justice, bringing to life our values; and our desire to be a leading flexible and inclusive employer.
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Operates credibly at C-Suite and Board level building strong trusted relationships.
- Multi-year experience of leading a dedicated companywide Resourcing team within a regulated Financial Services environment.
- Extensive knowledge of external talent markets and emerging trends shaping resourcing strategies in one or both of the Asset Management (Public & Private Markets) and Insurance.
- Prior experience of identification and sourcing of suitable NED profiles for both our PLC and subsidiary Boards.
- Commercial acumen – experience of managing large functional budgets with a proven track record in securing commercial value in contingent, supplier and PSL negotiations.
- Deep understanding of strategic workforce planning and resourcing practices.
- Strong capability in translating business strategy into operational resourcing delivery.
- Strong people leader: experience in building and leading high performance resourcing teams and delivering outcomes through others across complex environments.
- Ability to influence and build trust with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
- Strong data/analytical capability, uses data and insights to guide decisions and measure success.
- Experience of creating inclusive hiring approaches that support successful diverse talent attraction.
