Finance Business Development sits at the centre of proposition development, business change and strategic delivery across M&G. We work collaboratively with stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, Risk and Technology to ensure new products, transactions and strategic initiatives are delivered effectively while maintaining robust controls.

We are seeking experienced Finance Actuarial professionals to join the team on a 12-month fixed-term basis to support us through a period of intense growth. Successful candidates will provide leadership, expertise and delivery support across a portfolio of strategic initiatives, supporting some or all of: proposition development, BPA growth, development of methodologies and assumptions, development of valuation models and controls.

This role is suitable for either an experienced manager or technical specialist who can operate independently, influence senior stakeholders and provide expert guidance in their area of specialism. The particular areas of speciality we are most interested in are defined benefit pensions, Solvency UK capital, reinsurance, with-profits, and model development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead actuarial engagement on strategic initiatives, business change activities and proposition development projects
  • Act as a trusted adviser to stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, Risk and Technology
  • Identify Finance impacts, dependencies, risks and required actions associated with proposition developments, transactions and regulatory change
  • Co-ordinate subject matter experts across multiple teams to ensure delivery objectives are achieved
  • Support business case development, impact assessments, governance papers and decision-making materials
  • Ensure appropriate controls are developed and embedded within project and proposition design and build
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and ways of working
Essential Experience
  • Qualified actuary with significant experience in insurance environments, including innovative activities where there is no pre-existing process or structure
  • Experience leading complex pieces of work involving multiple stakeholders and teams
  • Ability to influence and manage a range of stakeholders
  • Experience producing high-quality analysis and governance papers
  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to assess a range of possible solutions and exercise sound professional judgement when recommending a course of action
Desirable Experience
  • Subject matter expertise in BPA products, with-profits business, Solvency UK capital or reinsurance
  • Experience of new proposition development, business readiness or change delivery
